Here is the status of the Ghouls ride. We will be rolling out at 9am. I know some of you would prefer an earlier start but a 9am start gives us more time for the weather to warm up and for us to get at the lodge by lunchtime.
The ride down will be about 30 miles and the ride back will be around 36. I will drive the route down either today or Wed and post it on the forum. Barbara Cox is going to be the SAG driver on the way to Pennyrile. This means that someone or a mixture of people need to swap up on the way back. My Element holds 4 bikes so at anytime someone wants to rest...they can get in the Element and either ride or drive.
The route will be as close to last year's route as possible. We won't have much traffic on the roads we are using but there will be a couple of small patches of busy road. Be prepared for some climbing. I think last year's ride was about 6500 feet of climbing if you rode the entire route.
The meal will be buffet and things will be fine as long as we don't let Troy eat Salad.
The Element will be able to carry extra gear for those that need more or less clothing during the ride. It will also be carrying extra water and some snacks. The only thing I ask is maybe a dollar or two for gas donation.
I just want to stress that this is NOT a hammer ride. This ride is about having fun and enjoying ourselves on the bike. We always have a great time doing this ride. It was originally called Pedaling for Patients, last year it was called Ghouls, Granola and Gatorade and this year just plain Ghouls. This ride is a club tradition whether it is one day or two.
