I need some help removing the crankset and bottom bracket on my Winter "Stealth Single Speed" project garage sale find. I've gone past my bicycle maintenance ability and suspect I need a special tool to perform the required work.... .....Expertise willing to share appreciated.....

No problem.....Unless you want to actually use the bike in the future. Then I may not get to use the plasma cutter.
Hack I think this calls for a PUS maintenance summit. Gather the clans.....

Hey thanks....I figured out the special tool was needed when my hacksaw blade went dull....Monday would be great... Your leisure. I'll bring a bit of 'Irish Lubricant' to ease the removal. The frame is not due to the skunkworks for extensive stealhlike modifications until after the first snowfall. Let me know what time!

Monday before or after the meeting works for me. Watch out with the Irish lubricant! The last time I applied too much....I woke up with painted toenails.

Before works better for me tonight. Let me know what time and where. I'll be wary of the Irish tonight!

Hey Alan, How about an update on the single speed project. Will is or is it a fixed gear?

Hey Phil...It Will be a fixed gear and a freewheel single speed. I'm going with a flip flop hub. fixed gear on one side, Freewheel single speed on the other side. I have run into a small snag however. It presents itself in the form of a rather large crack in the head tube....so...back on the hunt for another yard sale or street curb find. Wish me Luck!

sounds good. Why not just check out my garage for a frame? I have about 6 to choose from right now.

I've always wanted to see how J&B weld would work in this situation.

Hmm....let's see....small bike frame with a crack at the steering surface....... Large gorilla body type....JB weld.....Downhill (the only way I get ANY speed) with a bump....... Somehow that seems like a recipe for road rash to me. What the hell...we could try it out. You can change my nickname to Crash Test Dummy or something!
