Dear enlightened one,
As I'm sure you are aware Phil Liggett is an extraordinarily colorful commentator on versus' cyclism coverage. Liggett uses certain catch phrases to describe the action at a very frequent rate. I was just wondering if you could explain and answer my questions about some of their meanings.
1) "He's dancing on his pedals in a most immodest way! " Is this the type of immodest dancing that the very attractive women do on dancing with the stars? or is he talking about something different?
2) "He climbs like an angel! " I thought angels ascended. except for Jan Ullrich. The only wings he ever had were his love handles. So do angels climb or ascend?
3) "And there is Robbie mcewen appearing to take the win! coming from nowhere! he must have come from behind harry potter's cloak of invisibility!" Is there really a cloak of invisibility? If so, i want one.
4)"He's really having to dig deeply into the suitcase of courage." What the heck is the suitcase of courage?
5) "Paul, with this attack the chicken skin is about to fall."
WTF? I don't even know where to start. Please help!!!
Sincerely,
The 7x TdF Champion DOMESTIQUE

Dear The 7x TdF Champion DOMESTIQUE, You are correct on the definition of Immodest, but also, according to the Oxford English dictionary, it can mean to act in a boastful manner without self-restraint. On the angel question I will refer you to Father Bruce. On the cloak of invisibility you can not have one for you are a muggle; I don't even know if a muggle could operate on of those things. Suitcase of courage is a mythical suitcase that ones belonged to the greek god herbious god of sales. He actually sold invincible hair brushes and combs out of it. No one has seen it in quite some time. As far as the phase "the chicken skin is about to fall" I think that is a euphemism for the hatchet is getting ready to fall, but I wouldn't say it a euphemism because a hatchet falling seem a lot more pleasant than thinking about a chicken getting its skin pulled off dropped on the ground, I mean that's just gross, but a hatchet falling seems OK as long as it not going cause any physical damage, but then hey if there wasn't any threat of physical damage then the machismo thing would not apply. So I guess it would be a reverse euphemism. Sincerely, enlightened one
