found this on the KYMBA site. Thought it was something we need to do!!
Here is some interesting news that needs to get out, can you help? Senator Katie Stine is filing her Complete Streets bill, either today or tomorrow, I'm not sure which. She has ask the cycling/pedestrian community to call: 1.800.372.7181 and voice support for the bill. She needs the record of those calls. Tell the answering voice that you want to relay the message of support TO Senator Katie Stine (that is not Representative Kathy Stein). I just called that number at 8am this morning and they answered.
This bill would require by law that the state to study the feasibly of including all roadway users, bicyclists, walkers and persons with disabilities, when designing new roads or in major reconstruction projects. This could mean more bike lanes, better sidewalks and multi-use trails for the state. If the cost of such facilities does not exceed a specified amount and meets other requirements the state would then be required to build the facilities. It would not require facilities to be built where studies show none are needed now or in the foreseeable future.

The lady asked for my name, address (including county), and telephone number. She inputs all of the information in the system, and all of it is forwarded to Rep. Katie Stine.
The whole thing took less than three minutes. MAKE SUE that you tell them you are calling to support the "Complete Streets Bill" that Ms. Stine is proposing. Apparently there are a couple transportation bills foating around and you have to be specific.
this is a copy but I just did it same thing!!!
Here's my take.
I can not see all rd's being made to have bike lanes but do strongly see a need for rd's leading from surban sites into towns and into industrial areas having such. Also having bike lanes around schools areas could encourage kids and teachers to ride to school and in turn help with the obesity problem. With this approach many people could have the ability to walk or ride a bike to their destination. In more rural areas Iād like to see roads widened considerably to allow passing of cyclist and other pedestrians in which could make it a safer rd in general.
AND Greenbelts Rock!!!
