Anyone been out Grapevine lately? Condition of the trails ride-able?

I went out to Grapevine today and cut two laps and the condition was bad... Most of A side is still in good shape, but raking, and riding it a few dozen times would really get that sucker looking great. Dropping into B side is another story. It needs a lot of work and there are a few small downed trees.
When you first cross over the gravel road after completing the A trail you drop down the small hill. At the bottom of the hill is a huge downed tree. If you take a left just before the tree you can bypass it and then continue across the little bridge. Just before the bridge is another downed tree which is perfect for a log ride. I packed a few sticks and shards of bark to make a small ramp to start the log ride. I also dragged a few sticks/logs off the trail and caught all the spider webs! That was fun.
Moving further along on B side you will find out that it is really over grown and needs serious TLC. I remember someone cutting a new section on the B side and I had a really hard time even finding it. The sections I did find and tried to ride were to far gone to be used. Lots of sticker bushes and under growth...
Next time I come into town I would love to get together and do a little trail work.

Grapevine was a mess this past week. The fun bunch was out in full force and looked at me and my family as if we had a bucket of chicken hanging out the window. I'll tell you some of those guys looked whacked-out enough to give any officer probable cause. It's am shame I have never seen an officer back there.
I'll bet that area goes to lumber yard in a few years. Last fall I was told they were looking into improving the road, but with it getting little use aside from the fun bunch and their rip roaring trail show, I say it's toast.
A lot of you guys have a lot of time and energy (personal ownership) in that area. I won't be living here forever, and I hate to see this area go away for you guys who plan to use it responsibly in the future.
I'm no mtb trail blazer, but I am willing to pitch in if someone will set up a work day.

Ryan and I have been riding out there early in the morning to beat the heat. Ryan has done some work on A side at the entrance and cut back most of A and B side by himself. There is just as section along the road on B side that still needs to be cut back.
The trail did have some twigs and stuff on it but we have been turning some hot laps on it recently.

We need to start tossing ideas at each other on what to do about these creeps. What ever happened to Todd P Poole's help. Thought that was something he ran on. We have a hard time getting anything going out there because of the creeps in the weeds. But if normal people don't go out there then all we have left are the creeps. Any ideas! Leagal ideas I mean! Todd's right we have a lot at stake here.

sounds like a topic of August's meeting to me.
Ryan and I HAVE been riding the trail. He and I have both turned some very hot laps on it recently. Ryan turned a 25 minute loop on it the other day. For Grapevine, that's a FAST loop.
From a MTB perspective, the trail isn't in bad shape. It just needs some roundup on some places.
From a weird-o-meter scale, ideas need to be brought up in a club meeting.

Michael, I will have an update at the next meeting. It is going to take people individually interested enough to participate in weeding out the fun bunch by making an immediate call and then be willing to take a stand. If you come up on them make a cell call and take the officer to them.
This area is not the place for this activity.

The overall trail conditions now are good. Everything is ride-able minus some of the new sections Kenny cut last yr. We just need to beat that down until it starts coming in. I was able to go out there last night and get B side sprayed w/Rd-up and a little on A like the entrance/exit sections and the trail that crosses from the church parking lot. That is unitil I ran over my wand trying to climb a hill and hang on to everything,"dang-it". I try a plan another day I can finish up spraying trail A, mostly around the lake. That should do the weed problem until next yr. I did see the bevers are still very busy we need Arty on those dudes as well.
On the other issue about the fun-bunch. I posted a request for ideas on the KYMBA web site and am getting several good suggestions since that site see's a lot more traffic than ours. I'll post some of the better suggestions when more time allows. Some are pretty funny and others are usable suggestions.

The new sections that I cut last winter are trimmed back and ridable. In 100 plus tempertures I am doing 44 minute laps. With the added distance 2 or 3 laps is plenty for a good workout.

The next two wk's for me are pretty busy. I'll do my best to get out there ASAP and give it a good spraying. Doing that at this time of yr seems to keep control of the weeds until late spring or until we get a lot of rain.

Did the topic of the fun bunch come up at the meeting Mon night? I had daddy duty and could not make it.
