A typcial MTB ride from Kenny. Six guys started the ride and only five of us finished it. Kenny, Kent, Ryan, Steve, David R and David H all started the ride. Mud, Pine needles, rain and pain were all on the menu.
Kent bought a brand new MTB and decided what better day to break in a new MTB than a mucky day. Before and after pictures were taken for the milestone event.
David Rose has already won the shortest ride of 2008 contest. He literally got 50 feet on the trail before his entire rear drivetrain exploded. He spend the rest of the day at Pennyrile Lodge relaxing. This beat 2007's shortest ride by Todd when he got about 80 feet before his chain broke on a road ride.
Kenny and Kent took us on the expanded green loop at Macedonia. They were both laughing and having a blast. Ryan was showing off his mud abilities. Steve FINALLY had a flat that had to be changed. For those that don't know...ALL of Steve's MTB tires have slow leaks in them. I was on my Ala Carte steel HT wondering if my 12-27 rear gearing was still a good idea or not. Enough muck and mud got in my drivetrain to do some nice chain suck every so often.
At one point, Kenny just said, "watch for the bluff". Yeah, that was a long way down if you missed the trail. Ah....bliss.
9 miles in the books that felt a LOT longer and everyone lived. A good day on the bike.
